The IDEAthon is back!
Max’s Big Ride and The University of Toronto Mississauga’s Centre for Student Engagement are proud to host our second virtual ‘IDEAthon’ and we are seeking undergrad students like you to help us imagine creative and innovative ways of improving the quality of life for those with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). We welcome ideas from all academic disciplines and approaches.
You will work virtually in teams of 3-4 from February 25-27 to come up with creative and innovative ways of improving the quality of life of those who live with Duchenne. On day three, your team will submit your concepts to a panel of judges - and the top teams will walk away with cash prizes. $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd and $100 for 3rd!
To guide and motivate you in this important work, we’ll have engaging guest speakers, experienced mentors, and fun giveaways throughout the event.
No matter your background, program of study, or school, all undergrad students are welcome to join.

IDEAthon Kickoff Event on Zoom - Tuesday, February 22 - 5:00 - 6:30 pm EST
Don’t have a team? Don’t worry! We’ll be hosting a pre-IDEAthon Kickoff event on February 22 to help you meet others, brainstorm ideas and create your dynamic and multidisciplinary team! Already have a team? Come to test out your ideas and learn from our mentors.
IDEAthon Launch - Friday, February 25 - 4:00 - 6:00 pm EST
It’s go time! Get some last minute advice from our speakers before we release the IDEAthon question and criteria - and then you’re off to breakout rooms to start work on your proposal.
IDEAthon Mentors - Saturday, February 26 - 10:00 - 4:00 pm EST
This day is for you to develop your idea. Need feedback or advice? Drop in one or all of our themed mentor Zoom calls to check your progress or get some direction - or spend the day working independently with your team - it’s up to you!
IDEAthon Judging - Sunday, February 27 - 11:00 am EST
Submissions are due! You and your team will submit your one-page idea proposal to our panel of judges. The top 4 teams will go on to do live pitches via Zoom at 1:00 pm EST and around 2:00 pm EST we’ll announce our winners! (But really, you’re all winners for helping to bring attention to Duchenne muscular dystrophy!)
