How Can You Help? 

We often have people ask us, ‘How can I help?’

To help us answer that question, we’ve put together a list of ideas to inspire you to get involved and help us to win the war against DMD. Check out the list below and see if anything grabs you, and please let us know if there's any way we can support you in your efforts. 

Corporate Support

hold a Fundraising event

Employees can join forces and hold an event, and funds raised can be donated to Max’s Big Ride. See our list of Fundraising Event Ideas below for some inspiration on what might work for your business.

become a sponsor

This year we have two events – Max’s Big Ride and Max’s Big Climb – and we are looking for sponsors for both of them. If you think your business might be a good fit we can offer a level of sponsorship that will suit you. Last year’s sponsors enjoyed lots of exposure through the extensive media coverage of the ride.

Payroll deductions

Ask if your company supports payroll giving so that your donation to Max’s Big Ride is deducted directly from your pay.

Matched donations

Some companies offer matched donations, so your generosity can be equaled by that of your employer with every donation made. See if your place of work participates in this great scheme!

Donations of gifts or services

Max’s Big Ride and Max’s Big Climb will gratefully accept all donations, be they in the form of money, gifts or services for auction for fundraising purposes. Contact us if you feel you would like to contribute in this way and we will be happy to discuss how you can help.

Offer your support via gifts in kind

Team MBR is made up of just a few individuals, so if you can offer your support to us in any way we would be very happy to have your assistance. We currently need help securing a support vehicle for the ride, printing, hotels along the route and finding ride sponsors.  

Schools

Bicycle safety education

Hold a Max’s Big Ride bicycle safety education session and combine it with one of our fundraising ideas to raise money for DMD research.

Student Fundraiser

A great idea is to organise a special day where students can wear a colour/hat/costume to school and bring a coin for the privilege. Great fun for the kids and a great way to raise money and awareness. 

High Profile individuals

Do you know anyone famous? We’d love their help to raise the profile of Max’s Big Ride and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Talk to them about our cause and see if they’d like to help!

Volunteer at one of our events

There are lots of ways to get involved in 2016 – let us know if you’d like to volunteer and we will be sure to allocate you a task. The more the merrier!

Get involved!

Become a participant in one of our events! Join us on the final leg of Max’s Big Ride on Canada Day from Cootes Paradise to Bayfront Park, or sign up to be a competitor in Max’s Big Climb up Sydenham Hill. Keep your eye on our website for the latest about these activities. 

Make us your chosen charity

Opt out of birthday and Christmas presents and instead donate an annual figure to Max’s Big Ride. Encourage your family to do the same and you can all know you are making a big difference to those living with DMD.
